We usually recommend you wait and book tours through Reception. We can try and predict the best weather day for your activity. The Island offers island fringe coral snorkelling trips, horse riding, jet-ski circumnavigation of the Island, sea kayaking, sailing trips, stretch jeep tours, fishing trips, dive trips to the S. S. Yongala site, great walks, beautiful scenery – it’s a wonderful place to enjoy the beauty of nature and put the demands of busy lives in perspective.

But ….one tour that doesn’t rely on the weather, and is an excellent way to kick start your holiday is the Island Bus Services’ 3 hour commentated tour. Approx. 8:30am or 12:30pm start time. For a first time visit it’s a great recognizance of the Island – your friendly tour driver will give you history on all the bays, tell you a little about the local flora & fauna – you even get to feed the Island’s Rock Wallabies.. Morning or Afternoon Tea included. We recommend this tour for your first day, Sunday, and are happy to take advance bookings. $40 Adults, $20 5-15yo, $35 Students $35 Aust. Pensioners, Family 2A2C 5-15yo $100.00.

And ….. if for example you do the morning tour, you get free bus travel for the remainder of the day. (Credit card payment required for advance bookings).
Here’s an idea of what you might like to do with your week at Island Palms Resort:

SATURDAY
Check In, get some supplies from the local supermarket and bottle shop (all walking distance) and settle in for a fabulous sunset from the roof top BBQ area, or relax by the poolside BBQ. Think about booking one of our 4WD vehicles for a day or a week – before they all go! (Weekly hire can be pre-booked)

SUNDAY
Try a great 3-hour guided bus tour of the Island – excellent recognizance, history & information. Stroll along the beach at your doorstep, or just relax around the pool and maybe enjoy the pool spa to relieve the travel tension.

MONDAY
Go horse riding from the Horseshoe Bay Ranch - explore the bush, beach and swim on the horses in beautiful Horseshoe Bay. Then our weekly Resort Get-together with nibbles, drinks, prizes and meet local tour guides.

TUESDAY
Get in early and hit the seas with Captain Michael on his 42 foot steel yacht “Jazza”.  Enjoy 6 hours of relaxed sailing, island snorkelling & boom-netting & dine on the best ‘on-board’ pizzas in Nth Qld.  You’ll like it so much, you’ll have time to squeeze in another trip before you leave!

WEDNESDAY
Decisions, decisions!  To have a morning paddling your own canoe, oops, pardon – Sea Kayak with Magnetic Island Sea Kayaks and hope to spot a turtle? Or twin share a jet ski with Adrenalin Jet Skis, circumnavigate the Island (the only tour that goes right around) or try their shorter 75 minute “Top End” tour?  OR … see the island from the air in the “Red Baron” (same one that was in “The Phantom” movie)?
THURSDAY
THE AWARD WINNING Tropicana Guided Adventure Tour, morning, afternoon or fully day tour options in a 4WD Limo, full of fun and excitement. Return home or get dropped of at a restaurant of your choice.

FRIDAY
THE CHOICE IS YOURS… You can either take the historic and panoramic bush walk to the FORTS constructed to protect Australia during World War 2; this is the best walk to see Koalas in the wild. What about ending on a gentler note and heading out for a day or sunset cruise on “Providence V”. Finish the day by trying another restaurant for a great meal.
